SRSIK

sound composition & video
16:38 min

online
2020

curated by Liudmila Kirsanova

SRSIK forms an algorithmic reinterpretation of the masterpiece "Eugene Onegin" by Alexander Pushkin. In a multi-stage process of translating the text into numbers and assigning notes and colours to them according to their wavelength, a multi-layered coded sonification of the verse novel develops, opening up a new level of reception in sound and rhythm.

The sonic composition is created for the online exhibition on the occasion of the XXVII Pushkin Theatre Festival in Pskov, Russia. The name reflects thereby the numerous transformation steps of the original file.
