coloured nylon threads, synthetic glass 150 x 130 x 220 cm
Dynamo Projektraum 13, Zurich 2019
curated by Tessa Prati
In the spatial installation TANGIERTE GRENZEN, colour-coded cords are attached to plastic glass panels, corresponding to the four cardinal points, whereas their course is based on the structure of European national borders.
The work functions interactively and can be entered and touched by visitors. It plays with the term "integration", which derives in Latin from in-tangere: the untouched, intact.
The threads define partial areas, creating boundaries in the space, but through their permeable and filigree character they also illustrate the relativity of classifications. The work clarifies how defined assignments and demarcations represent a changing and fluid system.
