The site-specific installation ZU GAST is based on a guest list maintained from April 2018 to Dec. 2022. The frequencies of all visitors in the shifting places of home over the years are transferred spatially and colour-coded into the architecture of the exhibition space.
Initially beginning as a humorous documentation, the recording takes on a totally new level of meaning with the onset of the pandemic in 2020. It turns into a mirror of contact restrictions and limitations on freedom of movement. The work explores the relationship between deliberate and imposed control mechanisms and poses questions about the boundary between private and public space.
The notations created over several years highlight the processual nature of the piece in the form of wall fragments that are integrated into the spatial network, as well as an artist's book, published in a limited edition.
