The site-specific installation ISOMETRY explores connections between the high cultures of Mesoamerica and Mesopotamia/Egypt. Both ancient civilisations show similarities in their architectural structures and their orientation towards cosmological interaction.
By visually overlaying representative motifs of both cultures, the work aims to highlight a possible transoceanic and transtemporal exchange and to encourage a coherent understanding.
With regard to the present, the piece emphasises that temporally and spatially different events are always interlinked and in a permanent state of interaction.
The term "isometry", originating from mathematics, describes the congruent transformation of a body between two spaces and metaphorically refers to the idea of mutual influence.
