Installation, intervention in outdoor area Permanent marker on PVC film 210 x 235 cm
Bujattivilla, Vienna 2018
Curated by Jeannine Jesch
The work Blinde Verhüllung takes up conceptually the performance Verführte Führung. This time, the Braille font is applied on PVC strips hanging as a curtain at the entrance of Bujatti Villa, Vienna at the performance evening "MHF Core". The event is dedicated to Arthur Schnitzler's "Dream Story" and focuses the levels of the novel nightmare, reality and dream on each of the floors of the house.
On the curtain are written perpendicularly words in braille font related to the theme of the novel, including: seduction, charm, illusion, deceit, mask, game, magic, spell, veneering and deception. Before visitors enter the house, they go through the seemingly transparent curtain enveloping them briefly and thus plunging into another world. It is the symbol of a transformation.
The use of Braille as a purely visible and coded font plays with the fact that a non-sighted person cannot perceive it and a sighted one cannot decrypt it. At the same time the words themselves thematize the misleading and delusion and lay down almost imperceptibly like a veil on every person entering.
